Freedom to Marry Day in New Brunswick
3rd annual Valentine's Day actions & celebrations

Within hours of announcing the 3rd annual Valentine's Day of action and celebration, gay marriage advocates in New Brunswick confirmed plans to take part in Freedom to Marry day on February 14.

Art and Wayne Toole were married in Ontario after same-sex marriage became legal in 2003, however their home province has refused to recognize their marriage. Faced with ongoing discrimination in New Brunswick, the couple have protested on a number of occasions against the government. Art Toole was arrested in September 2003 during one visit to a Service New Brunswick office. The couple have announced plans to launch legal action in their province, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

Today an email from Art announcing plans for Moncton, NB:

Service New Brunswick
The Assumption Building

770 Main Street
Moncton, New Brunswick
February 14, 2005, 9:00 a.m.

"We will be there in a peaceful way," Art wrote in an email today. "We hope to have many support us this Feb 14, 2005. Pass the word around and get together and show the Government that we are not going away. We are here to stay and want the same rights as other in this Province. Invite your family and friends: gay, lesbians, bisexual or straight. We need to come together for all of us to live in peace."

If you can participate and show your support for marriage equality in Moncton, please email the couple to confirm details.
