Party planned for Dec. 9 court decision

Same-sex marriage activists invite you to a noon-hour party on Dec. 9th after the Canadian Supreme Court releases its decision on gay marriage. Activists, friends, lawyers, and supporters will be at Woody's, 467 Church Street, Toronto. Join us to celebrate what Ontario Chief Justice McMurtry calls "the recognition of human dignity and equality."

Nova Scotia Big Gay Wedding Reception

The Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project (NSRAP) is producing a Big Gay Wedding Reception in Halifax beginning at 6:30 PM with dinner at 7. The evening is a fundraiser to retire an $8,000 debt in legal expenses left over from the successful court challeng for gay marriage. Comedian Bette MacDonald will be the MC with silent aution, cash bar, keynote speaker Darrell Dexter, couples from the equal marriage victory in Nova Scotia and lots of toasts!

A busload of same-sex marriage advocates will travel from San Francisco to Washington D.C. , speaking at stops along the way. Donate to the equal marriage express from San Francisco to Washington, D.C.Through rallies and lcoal appearances the group of speakers will add a positive message to the ongoing dialogue on civil rights now underway across North America. They will travel to 13 cities in 8 days. Please sponsor this important initiative. Please help bring a message of justice, equality and universal human rights on a journey across America.

Halifax Pride '04- This Way Out

We look forward to returning to Halifax and marching in this city's increasingly popular Pride parade. We were honoured to be co-grand marshalls last year. This year, we are proud to march with old friends, and new, in an event that keeps getting bigger and better each year. We have lots to celebrate and still more to accomplish. Join us and march in support of equal marriage for same-sex couples. Our thanks to Jay Thordarson and Halifax Pride '04 for inviting us back again.

Toronto: Marching with CIBC employees

Toronto: We will join employees from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce at this year's Toronto Pride parade. It will be CIBC's third appearance in the parade. This year, the bank's Chairman hosted the the bank's first Pride reception for employees and community leaders. We look forward to marching with employees of CIBC, with our appreciation for the bank's respect for diversity and commitment to employees.

Toronto: Pink Weddings Expo

Toronto: Gaiety.ca Magazine will be hosting the Pink Wedding Expo, a same-sex marriage trade show featuring major suppliers. This show will be extremely important for gay and lesbian couples who are planning to marry in the province of Ontario in the near future. We will be opening the show with our friends Gail Donnelly and Barbara McDowall. The Expo is located at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Yonge Street, blocks from the gay neighborhood. Thursday and Friday, June 24th and 25th from noon to 9 p.m.

Toronto: Stephen Harper protest at CBC

Toronto: Anti-gay Conservative leader Stephen Harper will be at the CBC national headquarters in Toronto at 5 p.m. tonight to be interviewed by Peter Mansbridge. Supporters of same-sex marriage will be gathering at 4:30 p.m. at the John Street entrance of the CBC (just north of Front Street) to welcome Harper in an appropriate manner. This may be last time Harper will be in Toronto before the election. Bring signs and noise makers. Spread the word!

Toronto: Picket Liberal MP Dennis Mills

Toronto: As Member of Parliament for the riding of Toronto-Danforth, Dennis Mills (Liberal Party) has consistently opposed equality for gays and lesbians and his current campaign platform includes his support for marriage discrimination. Residents of the riding have organized a day to picket at Mills' campaign office. We must not let Mills go through this election without being confronted with his record. Support same-sex marriage. Bring signs (or we can provide some for you in advance), noise makers, etc., to 607 Danforth Avenue (west of Pape Avenue) at noon on Saturday June 19.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: There are 1,138 U.S. federal protections and benefits for married couples that are denied same-sex couples, regardless of the length of their relationships. Equality Forum invites you to SundayOUT on May 2 for Project 1138. The first 1, 138 couples (1yr+) to register will recieve a balloon and a heart-shaped pin. The 1,138 balloons will be released , a symbol of support for marriage equality. No charge or admission fee.

Equality California's 2004 San Francisco Equality Awards Dinner

March of Hearts - Rally for equal marriage

Ottawa, Ontario: The March of Hearts will be a peaceful rally in support of equal marriage for all Canadians. Participants will assemble in Ottawa on March 6 (changed from March 5) at the Human Rights Monument (between Elgin Street and the Ontario Provincial Court). Speeches begin at noon and the group will begin a march at 12:30 to the Centennial Flame and back to the Human Rights Monument. Dignitaries will lead the parade and speak briefly. Participants will include students from Ottawa, as well as campuses within a few hours drive, union members, activists, allies and some sympathetic parliamentarians. Please participate.
